Research

Summary

LSP specializes in fundamental and applied studies of catalytic olefin polymerizations, aiming to better understand and improve existing catalysts and processes, and to implement novel ones. The strategy is to adopt a highly integrated trans-disciplinary approach characterized by state-of-the-art experimental and computational tools and methods.

LSP’s competences are strengthened via well-established collaborations with other leading academic and industrial research groups characterized by complementary skill sets (Link). A very important asset in this respect is the long-standing partnering with the Dutch Polymer Institute (DPI), with its global network of Knowledge Institutes and Companies working together in pre-competitive research programs, as well as with the Italian National Interuniversity Consortium of Materials Science and Technology (INSTM), federating all Italian Knowledge Institutes with research programs in Materials Science and Technology.

More recently, LSP has established a new strategic partnership by participating as co-founder in the ‘High-Throughput Polymer Hub’ of the Federico II University of Naples. The Hub, with new lab spaces in the high-tech Campus of San Giovanni, is poised to operate as a privileged partner of polymer producing and processing companies in joint projects on sustainable polymeric materials.

In the following, the main areas of research of LSP are summarized, and some of the recently published results in the various areas of interest are highlighted.

Introduction

LSP is a global competence center for fundamental and applied studies on olefin polymerization chemistry and catalysis.
