Some notable recent scientific achievements of LSP are:

  • the implementation and application of high-field 13C NMR tools and methods for the microstructure analysis of vinyl polymers, including the first full assignment and statistical analysis of the 150 MHz 13C NMR spectra of regioregular polypropylene [1] and propene/ethene copolymers [2]
  • the use of polyolefin microstructure analysis for active site ‘fingerprinting’, with special emphasis on complex cases like heterogeneous Ziegler-Natta catalysts in general [3], ‘oscillating’ metallocenes [4], novel non-metallocene catalysts discovered via High Throughput Experimentation [5]
  • the implementation and application of methods for the precise determination of catalyst regioselectivity and ‘dormancy’, based on the synthesis and NMR analysis of olefin hydro-oligomers and isotopically labeled polymers [6]
  • the discovery of growing-chain epimerization in metallocene-catalyzed propene polymerization [7];
  • the modification of methylalumoxane (MAO) to improve its performance as an activator and/or scavenger in molecular olefin polymerization catalysis [8]
